I'd been using Trillian as my AIM client because it tied all my communications together and had logging capabilities (you probably know how terrible my memory is). Plus, I've just had a lot of problems with AIM disconnecting me and doing all sorts of other weird things.
Well, AIM has been blocking third-party software, including Trillian, so I've just laid low for the past few days, awaiting another Trillian patch.
Today I finally gave in and started AIM. AIM wanted me to download the newest version, so I did, and opted not to close the program at that time to install it. I started Trillian back up to hit IRC, which disconnected AIM. So I reconnected... and AIM decided this would be a good time to install itself.
FWOOP-- lost all my windows in mid-conversation (eight or ten of 'em-- I hadn't been on in quite awhile and evidently had much catching-up to do).
*Grumblegrumblegrowl-- restart AIM*
Five convos get restarted... a new one starts...
FWOOP-- AIM crashes. Windows crashes (WIN is such a lemming!). Everything's gone.
