Nevermind the furthermore, the plea is self-defense
This is my first day back to work since... well, Friday, really, but technically, Monday.

I've had this stupid flu/cold thing since Friday... Friday it was in my stomach, but I worked all day and performed OK. Saturday morning, it was in my throat-- it felt like brimstone. I couldn't swallow. I hadn't felt that bad since I had strep! Still, the show must go on, and it did. I was pleased to discover the next day that the director didn't even catch on that I was sick.

The next day, I felt much better. We had a matinee, strike (where we completely dismantle the set and clean the theatre) and a cast party. I didn't drink much, but I worked very hard at strike, and had a few smokes at the cast party (I know, for shame). So I got The Itis, part deux. This time, the whole nine yards-- sneezing, coughing, stuffy head, chills, ick. I took a half day on Monday to "get stuff done," I ended up attending the staff meeting, then sleeping the rest of the day (and then attending a rehearsal for The Vagina Monologues).

Feeling quite a bit better today, we'll see how it goes.

I was actually going to take some DayQuil today... but the box we bought last night expired two months ago! I'll have to talk to someone at CVS about that.

The cast party was nice-- it was out at Ron's place, about twenty minutes out of town on Lake Santa Fe. I got a narcissus :) Oh, and wine.

I wish I'd been able to get the gift I'd originally hoped to get for Loren, but oh well. I ended up getting her The Hunger, and creating a new cover for it with her photo as same. "Nothing human eats forever." Clever, maybe, but I wish I'd had more time. Well, it was my first gift exchange, so I didn't know what to expect... but she deserves lots of love and happy things, and I feel I came up a bit short. Ah, well. Time, if I only had more of ye...

Time keeps on slippin', slippin', slippin', into the future...

Busy few weeks to come... Saturday, we get the baby. Well, we call her "the baby," but she's got to be two now. She belongs to friends of ours. We'll be taking care of her while her parents are overseas for a week. Rather than baby-proof the house, we'll just take care of her at her home. It's only five minutes away.

Meanwhile, Paul's juggling two full-time classes on top of his job (his classes have six-week semesters, so one class is considered "full-time"). I somehow agreed to do the PR and posters for the two VDay events on top of MY job, and I go to KoLBaltimore next Friday.

I whipped up a poster for the benefit concert yesterday. It looks pretty good, I think-- especially considering I wasn't even planning on doing a poster for that, and I was sick as a dog.

Somewhere, somehow, I NEED to get a cut and color. I guess I'll fit it in sometime.

So that's the state of me, I guess.

I thought I had more to write about... I probably did, actually. I'll have to get to it another time, though. There's work to be done!

Hope you all are happy, healthy and enjoying every moment :)

~Hugs to those who need 'em, those who want 'em, and those who don't run away quickly enough~

I'm feeling all kinds of: recovering

I was hoping that ,a href="http://www.boingboing.net/2007/02/08/the_hoohah_monologue.html" target="_win">this</a> was your production of TVM. ;)

Hee!

We each actually had to choose a vagina euphemism to start the show, and mine's hoohah. I'll be saying it extra loud (a la pacino) ;D

LJ ate my original response. :(

I love my cast gift! I happen to love vampire movies and pictures of myself so it's perfect! *g* I haven't had time to watch it yet (I've been CRAZY busy) but it looks like it'll be a good one.

I'm glad you're feeling a little better. I know it sucks to feel crappy while doing a show. It's especially sucky when it the final shows. :(

I look forward to Sunday!

You are da bomb, missy :)

Yay, Sunday! We'll have kidlet, so it remains to be seen whether we'll be able to make the trek to T&A's (OK, I never realized they were T&A-- that's funny).

Hunger's a visually intense and beautiful movie. I'll watch it with ya! You know, when our schedules clear up [insert laugh here]

I miss your butt! Just thought I'd throw that out there.

I have seen the Vday website, and even e-mailed them. Most of the content on there seems like it is demonizing men, even if the statistics are true about what happens in other countries. I am scared that they are so focused on women as victims, which is their identity, that they are missing the point. The real giveaway is that they do not focus on environmental factors which lead to rape, violence etc. To me Vday hurts the already torn image of "men" that girls carry.

Hm. To be honest, I haven't looked that deeply into the site. What are the environmental factors which lead to rape, violence, etc?

Hey. :P I feel kind of awkward doing this, but I was searching interests and found you. I'm starting a community, [info]dailyvideo, and I'm sending you a community invite because... you seem cool. Um, yeah. My name is Bethany, btw.
