Cats and planets and pennies
Took Max to the vet today. It was bittersweet, really; I hadn't realized that I've been going to the same vet for eleven years. She seemed genuinely happy for me, as well as sad to see me go.

Anywho, Maxman had terrible scratches on his chin. I wasn't sure if it was due to trauma (he does go outside, and while he's more of a mellow guy than a fighter, a fight's not out of the question) or some type of dermatitis. So, off to the vet we go.

Guess what?

My 13 year old cat...

...has acne.

And I just noticed a bigass zit on my chin.

You know those people who say that people end up resembling their pets?

Yeah. Jerks. ;)

Venus begins its transit in a mere two hours.

There's a live webcam here, check it out!

C'mon already! This is the first time in 120 years that a Venus Sun transit has occurred.

They come in groups of two; there's another in eight years, on June 6, 2012.

After that, it's a long wait until 2117 and 2125.

You will probably be dead then.

Guess the penny. Go ahead; guess!

And with that, I go to bed.

Sweet dreams when you get there, LJ'rs (unless you're on the other side of the world, in which case, g'day!).

I'm feeling all kinds of: But I'm thirty-five years old!

Yeah, I think if cats don't manage to clean their chins properly, food or dirt can get imbedded in the pores and cause acne.

I don't know why this suddenly started happening now, though... hopefully, it will pass :)

Heheh, a cat with acne. There's something new. :P

Seriously, though, I hope you two get rid of your zits soon! ...Actually, I have one on my eyebrow right now (luckily only a small one, but still).

When I get zits, they're MASSIVE. On such a pale face, they really stand out, too :P

I'm not the only one to get a sympathy zit this week... Paul got one in the exact same place Zack got one!

Sheesh, talk about a family sticking together... ;)

Did they tell you that the plastic food/water dish that your kitty eats from is what's likely causing his acne? If they didn't, it's true. Switch to a ceramic dish. :)

It was the first thing she brought up :)

I wish the answer were that easy. He already eats off of ceramic, and always has!

Thanks for the heads-up, though :)

ahhh! okay. My little Oreo had acne on his chin too but it was the plastic that caused his.

ldy From: ldy Date: June 8th, 2004 03:43 pm (UTC) (permalink)
Even funnier-- Zack AND Paul both got some this week, too!

We got a thing, it's called radar zits ;)

OMG... it's an epidemic!
damnitnicole From: damnitnicole Date: June 8th, 2004 01:28 pm (UTC) (permalink)
Cat acne. Too weird, right? I just went through it last week. Luckily, the antibiotics are working.
ldy From: ldy Date: June 8th, 2004 03:44 pm (UTC) (permalink)
In all my years, I'd never heard of such a thing. And I've had cats all my life! Weird!
damnitnicole From: damnitnicole Date: June 8th, 2004 03:49 pm (UTC) (permalink)
What did the vet tell you to do about it?
ldy From: ldy Date: June 8th, 2004 04:09 pm (UTC) (permalink)
Wash it gently, and use the antibiotic ointment she gave me twice a day.
damnitnicole From: damnitnicole Date: June 8th, 2004 08:07 pm (UTC) (permalink)
Keep him inside?
ldy From: ldy Date: June 8th, 2004 08:09 pm (UTC) (permalink)
She didn't say to, no! (And she knows he's an inside/outside cat.*)

* Much better than an inside-out cat.
damnitnicole From: damnitnicole Date: June 8th, 2004 08:13 pm (UTC) (permalink)
Really? That's kind of surprising.
