Oh! You guys probably want to know how Friday went.

Dear lord, there are stories. There are so many stories. Some are hilarious, some tragic; most would evoke true pathos, I think.

I might tell one or two of them someday. Maybe. Just maybe. I haven't been able to write about them yet.

For now, let's just say that we discussed it at length and decided to hold off on a formal engagement until we're living in the same place and are ready to start planning a marriage.

(Informally, though, I did say yes, both times.)

Believe me when you are between anticipation and longing
Teach the lover to forget the word "separation"
My love, my angel, I forget the world with you
And I will come to the world of your love when you hold me
My love, I'm all for you; I love you when I'm in your arms
And nothing is too precious for you, if you only hold me tight

I'm feeling all kinds of: bellydancing

a few months after Jodi and I had accidentally moved in together, we were laying in bed together talking
somehow the subject got round to what her life plans were, and that they involved travel.

i don't know how we'd gotten to the point so quickly where we assumed that we would be together for the long term, but he had. and so it seemed like a perfectly natural turn of conversation to then discuss the relative difficulties of getting visas to some countries as an unmarried couple... two different visa applications in some cases whereas a married couple will often file one application, 'cause if you're married then it's much easier for bureaucrats to understand why you're traveling together

so i rolled over onto my side and looked at her and said, "will you marry me?"

she said "yes"

we didn't actually have a ceremony for four years... heck, we didn't even tell anyone we'd had that conversation for at least a year.

but we knew

and occasionally, i would ask her if she would marry me?
and i always got the same answer

sometimes i still ask her if she will marry me.
she still says yes

Hope you've kept that Gift Certificate that I gave you for Xmas handy... I told you you're going to be needing it eventually!! ;-)

I still want to perform the ceremony for you, too (something delightfully Floridian - on the beach at sunset - with your own vows would be especially nice...) but I'll settle for just giving you a rockin' good reception!!
