metals and cameras and salads and bugs
OK. I've no idea why "white gold" is considered a subset of "sterling silver," or why theirs doesn't sparkle like mine does, but here's the skinny on the shiny thing:

It really is about a thousand times more beautiful in real life.

I feel very special, and very loved.

I'll take a photo of it with my new camera.

Uhm, yeah, that'd be the new camera I haven't actually ordered yet. I went to a Ritz Camera in a Boscov's up here to try one out last night, but they didn't have batteries. D'oh! Still, seeing the others side-by-side and being able to actually pick them up and get a sense of their durability made my decision simple. Now I'm just searching for best price (if I can get a great deal with an extra battery and 256+ of memory, all the better).

My new baby?

A Canon S50 (or an S45 if I can find one cheaper-- it's the same camera, but with 4mp instead of 5mp... and they actually seem to perform better than the S50s in some respects).

Can I afford it right now? Hell no. Am I happy I just got a cc with a few months of 0% interest? You betcha :)

I had two saladgasms today. I yearn for a third, and will probably indulge myself before the afternoon is over.

I gave my office admin two saladgasms as well. She seemed very appreciative! Vocal, too.

If I could, I'd give each one of you multiple saladgasms.

- - - - - - - - - - - - -

What I wouldn't give you is this pistachio shell right here with fuzzy bug larvae in it.

That'll teach me to eat pistachios without looking.

Me go die now.

(Holy smokes-- I am "full of worms," just like the song says!! AIAIIAAIA)

I'm feeling all kinds of: Will another delicious salad make up for that?

Dear LJ:

Why do you mock me and my efforts to respond to Jude?

Please be nice. She is my friend, and I love her.

LJ is being mean to me. Or maybe it's my computer, I don't know. It's eaten things a few times in the last 24 hours.

I forget the huge response I had here. It was something about thank you and something about state of the art electronics and something about bringing my camera up with me and something about not knowing if P's gonna be up or not or whether Abby's coming with or whether I can even swing it and something about throwing an inflatable mattress in my trunk for shiggles just in case.

And something about your icon cracking me up, and something about my loving you.

Yes, I think that sums it up!

Lovely! I have a white gold Claddaugh that Joe gave me on our first Valentine's together, 6 years ago. I never take it off and it's still just a beautiful and shiney as ever.

I really need to get a [new] digital camera before the baby arrives.

Yes! You need camera!!!

Must have baby pictures!

And thank you :) I'm wondering if I'd ever be able to part with mine to make room for an engagement or wedding ring.

and I know what you mean about shelled food surprises.

Thank you! I adore the ring. I don't know if it's the weather or what, but it's falling off my hand now.

I love white gold, too. Looks like silver, but... different. Feels more substantial, too. My high school ring was white gold, but now sits at the bottom of the Mohawk river. Ah, well. I'm also keen on platinum, though I don't own any.

I was never big on the salad thing until recently! It's easy to get hooked once you start. Here's how you do it.

Get a bigass bowl.

Go to your local market and get this stuff:
Mixed greens-- usually in some sort of bulk bin. Get a bunch, but not too much. How much is that? About enough to gently fill half the bigass bowl.
Vegetables-- whatever looks good. If you like mushrooms, get a handful of mushrooms. If you're keen on red bell pepper, get that. Do the sprouts look particularly good? Get them, too. Whatever floats your boat!
Cheese-- again, whatever seems appealing.
Croutons, nuts, fruit, whatever else you like
Some sort of dressing

Chop everything big into small bite-sized bits-- such a size that you could fit a few different things on a forkful. Then throw it all (minus the dressing) into a supermarket plastic bag and shake it all around. Then put it in the bowl for appearance's sake, if nothing else (you can put the supermarket bag's handles over your ears and eat like a horse, but it may pose a suffocation hazard).

That's it! It's really easy. If you find there's anything you don't like, just don't get it again. Feel free to get wild.

Last month's monster salad has mixed greens, red pepper, carrot, cucumber, broccoli, swiss cheese, and cheddar cheese. This last one had mixed greens, broccoli, cherry tomatoes, blue cheese, swiss cheese, cheddar cheese, cucumber, baby carrots and sprouts. I used "marie's blue cheese vinaigrette" on both of them. I think it's my favourite salad dressing ever (your mileage may vary!).

I absolutely adore your icon. The colors in your hat and scarf/jacket are gorgeous on you. ;-)

Is that ring what I hope it's for? :)
ldy From: ldy Date: February 26th, 2004 07:35 pm (UTC) (permalink)
It keeps me finger from fallin' off!

OK. Not really ;)

It means he loves me. If I wear it on my left hand, crown out (as I do), it means he has my heart. If, however, it should wander on over to the right hand, crown out, it means I'm reconsidering. And if it flips over on the right hand, crown in, it means I'm available.

Code for "something's not quite right in our relationship, dear" is now "ring's movin'!" Much more efficient, don't you think? ;)
