I've made a decision.
No more cloves.

I wanted one last night. I want one now. I will probably always want one.

But I don't smoke. :)

I'm feeling all kinds of: hark the herald angels sing: "you don't want those stanky things"
What I hear: Christmas music from the outer office

Right On!

Re: Right On!

::boogies::

I haven't had one in a few days. And I can feel it-- I can feel it in my lungs, in my throat, in my body-- and I feel better for not having them.

And yet, I still nearly bought a pack last night. Thank heavens the store was closed and I got to rethink that decision :)

No more. All euphamisms aside, they are still cigarettes. And even a once-a-day-or-less smoker is still a smoker.

I can't use the quitmeter if I'm a gonna be doin' that sheet. I should probably reset it on principle... but I likes seeing the progress I've made :)

But now I have no bad habits at all!

WTF? I'm going to have to take up cyberterrorism or something just to keep my reputation intact.

LJ is close enough to a "bad habit." /grin

And way to go, sugarplum. You should definitely feel good about all this!

Hee. That's true enough!

And I do. Thank you :) I sometimes have to remind myself that they are not a reward, and I am not punishing myself by denying myself. It's almost the other way around!

For what it's worth, I smoked for nearly 13 years before I quit and I'm here to tell you that the cravings are really bad for the first year. Then they taper off. I quit about six years ago now, and the very smell of them makes me nauseous. (Even though I still have cravings from time to time.)
ldy From: ldy Date: December 18th, 2003 12:18 pm (UTC) (permalink)
I smoked over a pack a day for over twenty years :(

The scent of "regular" cigarettes makes me nauseous. I don't know why they don't appeal to me anymore, but they really don't. At. All. For that I am sincerely grateful. For the majority of my life, they were my bestest friend-- the first thing I did when I woke up and the last thing before brushing my teeth. I couldn't go an hour without one.

I don't know why the clove cigarettes are different, why they still appeal to me and why I can just smoke one or two (something I could never do with "regular" cigarettes), but they do and I can.

However, that doesn't make them any better for me. *sigh*

Hugs to you, dear friend :) And congrats on six years of being clean!

If all I have are occasional cravings for cloves, I consider myself lucky. *hugs!*
