snow and thoughts of auld lang syne.
Went to xso's bday party last night (for those just joining us, xso is my ex-boyfriend of seven or eight or whatever years-- we broke up two or three years ago, but are still friends). That was fun. It was really nice seeing his family again. His Dad was a riot-- it took about half an hour for his new wife to finally get him to leave, and in the meantime, he hugged everybody three times, drank all my beer, and kept stealing kisses from all us girls (nothing raunchy, mind you-- just sweet and very funny). xso's older brother read Dr. Seuss's "Happy Birthday Book," which was actually a story of hallucinogenic drugs, homosexual sex, and loose living. It will be read at every birthday party hence.

I got some clove smokes for the party-- they tasted too much like "real" cigarettes, though. Ick. I shan't do that again.

I told xso about P. He told me about the women he'd been dating. Nothing serious going on in his world. I could sense his disappointment in hearing that I'd found Somebody. He still cares for me, though he didn't put it into as many words (for a change).

It started snowing heavly at about 1am. Everyone hung around the outdoor fireplace. M and I left around 3:30am.

I had many conversations with P, who grew progressively drunker as the night wore on. Having the custody arrangements and divorce finalized was a great weight off of his shoulders. I'm glad he blew off some steam. It made for some very funny conversations ;)

It was very weird being in xso's house again. My imprint is all over the place. He gave me a wooden butterfly, one of many I'd painted for a Valentine's Day party years and years ago. Bittersweet. I'm glad I went.

At a community college somewhere in Gainesville, P and Z are at a Battle of The Bands. They take their band battles pretty seriously in Gainesville. P is complaining about the cold. It's in the low 60s there, and he's forced to wear a jacket.

"Snow until midnight then snow likely after midnight. Breezy. Additional accumulation 3 to 5 inches. Total accumulation 12 to 24 inches. Lows 15 to 20. North winds 15 to 25 mph. "

I have a fire in my fireplace, and am still sitting around in my PJs.

It's growing progressively darker outside.

I'd best go shovel a little.

I'm feeling all kinds of: hungry hungry
What I hear: fireplace blower blowing

You best go shovel a lot. A hella lot. And, whatever you do or don't do, don't lose your electric wire. Glad you had a time with x bf. Coulda been poopy.

It could have been poopy. We've been broken up for years and years now... and still, up 'til last night, he'd ask if I still loved him and if I wanted to bear his children or have a roll in the hay everytime I ran into him :P

It was wonderful, somehow though, seeing him and his family again. I'm going through my days now with the foreknowledge that I may not be here much longer, and that many of my hellos are really goodbyes. It gives me a very different perspective on the world.

Oh, I'll be HERE until LJ goes belly-up! No worries-- sorry to alarm you!

But I will either be selling or renting my house sometime in the nearish future so that I can move to Florida to be with my "family." :)

Crap.

I'm glad you're not dying, which is what I read into that.

Perfectly good panic wasted.

Still no signs of snow here in Wisconsin. Smoking? WTF? Shame, Shame!!
ldy From: ldy Date: December 6th, 2003 02:54 pm (UTC) (permalink)
I know. I've been doing the clove thing on occasion-- I still haven't touched a "real" cigarette in... *checks* 22 weeks, 6 days, 20 hours and 14 minutes (or so).

It's funny-- the regular smokes don't appeal to me at all, even after doing a pack plus a day for twenty some odd years. I really don't like this new brand of clove because they all too closely resemble regular smokes. But a regular clove, or a nice cigar-- those are very enjoyable on occasion :)

I shouldn't have bought 'em, but I knew I'd enjoy one or two during the party, especially since I'd be seeing xso.

But... ick. These are no good!! I feel like I've smoked two packs of regular cigarettes. Out they go.

And please take some of our snow. We have extra!

Thoughts Of Another Winter Missed...

I hope you'll take some photos of all the wonderful snow and share them with us... some of us quite miss it. I watched it on CNN last night with the sound muted (I was working on my music library) - they showed a montage of many scenes recorded across the north-east as the snow fell... I was able to identify all but two of them.

Tonight it's just -cold- here. Right now the thermometer reads a frosty 48, which is quite cold as the weather goes on the western side of the sout-eastern part of the country (read: west coast of FL - the only west coast that's actually on the east coast).

I DJed my first Christmas party of the year - it was awesome. The weather definitely helped to set the mood... but snow would have made it complete. I'm wondering what my gig at the end of the month will be like - they're talking about having it outside. I haven't owned thermal underwear for 12yrs. Perhaps I'll pick up a snow machine and make my own flurry. ;-)

Seasons Greetings, dear Ldy, and to all my friends (known/unknown and new) on LiveJournal.
