Lovers keep on lovin' / Believers keep on believin' / Sleepers just stop sleepin'

The barman says "Pssst. Travellers Guild 2 is right next to Unctuous and 95th today. I don't know how much longer it will be there, though."

You guys are so awesome. No more meltdown. Got stuff ordered, worked right up to rehearsal (with a short break for a sushi walk), rehearsed (and enjoyed it-- man, I love improv!), went home, smoked a pack of cigarettes*, chatted w/ P into the wee hours, woke up with sore throat and sinus headache, slept in.

Other than awakening a couple times to answer phone calls and cuddle with the cat, I slept right up until 11:30. I guess I was tired or something!

I have a lot of work to catch up with today, but that's OK. I feel human again :)

I don't know when I'll be able to catch up with comments, but thanks for being there. You did make a difference.

I may make that entry friends only. I really don't like the overtired, overstressed me. She's such a whi-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-iner!

* And no, I didn't really. I did light up a six month old clove cigarette, though (yes, I still keep a handful of those in the house-- they usually don't tempt at all-- in fact, this was the first in what, 100 days?). I had maybe four or five barely-inhaled drags. It wasn't awful, but it didn't really satisfy, either. I still feel a little lightheaded. I guess I'm just a nonsmoker. Hee.

I read a few of you today. Wishing I could read you all... but work beckons. I have to be nice to myself and get the things I want done, done. That means no (or very little) LJ for the next few days. Be good to each other, K?

Also, please take a moment to better understand your fellow man (or woman). It's indigobluejelly's birfday, and that's her wish. :) (C, you're a hoot and I'm so happy to know you!!!)

Thinking about getting a flu shot?

I advise against it. STRONGLY.

Flu shots can be effective at preventing the flu, but they aren't always effective. And the costs, imo, outweight the gains.

Gain: possibly (but not necessarily) avoiding the flu.
Cost: up to 25 mcg of mercury in the form of thimerosol (1 mcg is considered toxic, btw) being injected directly into your bloodstream
Cost: formaldehyde being injected into your bloodstream
Cost: aluminum being injected into your bloodstream
Cost: polysorbate 80 being injected into your bloodstream
Cost: unwanted antibiotics being injected into your bloodstream

Etc. Etc. There is a LOT of CRAP in shots.

Just the mercury and aluminum alone are cause for concern. According to Dr. Hugh Fudenberg, MD, speaking at the NVIC International Vaccine Conference in Arlington, VA, September, 1997: if an individual has had 5 consecutive flu shots between 1970 - 1980 (the years of his study) his/her chance of developing Alzheimer's Disease is 10 times greater than if they had one, two or no shots. Dr. Fudenberg stated that this is due to the mercury and aluminum buildup that is in flu shots (and in almost all childhood shots as well).

Dr. Fudenberg has served on four Expert Committees of the World Health Organization, including 20 years on the Expert Advisory Panel on Immunology. He has received numerous awards and his website is here. Please ignore for the moment that the man appears to be smoking a ferret. He really is quite bright.

So, yeah, unless getting the flu might kill you or something, I'd suggest that you avoid it. I mean, you can do what you want... I just like keeping you guys alive and well. Selfish little me. :)

Thanks to bitteroptimist for jogging my memory that I wanted to share that with you!

I shall return :)
