Pardon me while I geek-out on Terry Gilliam for a moment.

I just have to share this, because I am a Terry Gilliam freak.

Awesome interview with Terry Gilliam at Comic-Con about The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus and a whole lot of other stuff

I am so tempted to drive the five hours just for the remote chance to screen this movie (and shake the man's hand). But it won't happen.

OK, upon rereading that, I should probably explain what I just said, because it likely won't make sense to anyone who isn't a Terry Gilliam freak (or who didn't read the linked article and make some mental leaps).

Terry Gilliam (of Monty Python fame, and director of Time Bandits, Brazil, Baron Munchausen and Fisher King, among others) has just directed this amazing movie called The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus, which stars such amazing talents as Heath Ledger*, Johnny Depp, Jude Law, Colin Farrel,** and Christopher Plummer, with Tom Waits as the devil***, and he's screening it at Dragon-Con in Atlanta, five hours away from me, two weeks from now.

You can see a nifty trailer here, and another longer, but apparently much earlier trailer here.

I honestly haven't been this excited about a movie in... well, maybe ever.****

Oh, Le-Sigh, indeed! I shall have to wait until October 16, like everyone else.

* Yes, it was the last project he was working on before his untimely death.
** In a sweet twist of script re-imagining, Depp, Farrel and Law were cast as continued transformations of Ledger's character, allowing the character to continue even after the actor died.
*** Yes, Tom Waits as the devil. Tell me that's not cool!
**** Although, to be fair, I don't generally get excited about movies.
***** And I miss Dragon-Con. I went for several years (most with Michele, once with P), but haven't gone since I moved to Gainesville five years ago (a move that ironically put me within driving-distance from the event). What happened?! It's not that my life has GOTTEN weird, it's that it's BEEN weird for some time, I think... but not awesome-weird, just not-really-being-completely-myself-weird. I should make plans to go next year with Michele, once I am again gainfully employed.
