rubbah and horns

random quick updates!

Ugh, I've been repairing my desktop computer for three #(&($^(@*^! days. Seriously, day and night.

Anywho, it's nice to be back. Even if my firefox DOESN'T stop crashing.

At least the spontaneous reboots seem to have been quelled.

Bought a Roomba on Amazon this morning. WTF?

Paul made me do it. I'ma gonna miss the catfur tumbleweeds. They leant me some atmosphere when I was feelin' lonesome.

I figure, $130 to get rid of 80% of our sweeping and vaccuuming time for a year or two is a nice use of leverage.

Poor Gracie! She'll be pissed.

I thought these topics were important and worthy of your notice.

My first rehearsal was a bit distressing... although it's a true ensemble play, designed so that everyone would have at least one substatial role, I got nothin' but a bit part here and a bit part there. And I was the only one.

At Paul's behest, I brought up my concerns to the director, who rearranged some things. It's all good now :)

I'm so rarely the squeaky wheel... I always feel uncomfortable in that role. I need to remind myself that sometimes it's a positive thing.

Having one's needs met is beneficial to both parties.

A FreshMarket just opened down the street last night.

I nearly peed my pants.

FRESHMARKET!! I'm giddy with the possibilities of fresh food.

After we checked it out, Paul and I spent too much on dinner at our little Caribbean place. It was great :)

And now I cry as I pay the bills. Boohoooooo!

I really have a ton more work to catch up with, so I'll let it go at that.

I will catch up with comments soon. And I WILL write the groceries entry by... this weekend. Yes.

Hope you're having a fantabulous day *smoooch!* :)

upyers!

it's not too late to get my mcse, right?

FARGLEBARGLE!

Apparently, my "spontaneous rebooting" problem has not been "quelled."

I'm so sick of this. I don't know what to do anymore. I just lost hours worth of work.

Everything was fine until I tried to install one of these, a Koutech PCI to USB2.0 card. (Yup, that's my review on the right!)

The card, depending on the slot into which it was inserted, caused reboots during startup (specifically, when items were loading into the systray), or lots of freezes. I tried everything... and then finally raised the white flag and decided to send it back.

But now my system is farked. It reboots at odd times. It asks for fax.msi at startup (I'm going to try reinstalling my hp printer/fax to see if that fixes that problem-- I think it should). And firefox simply hates me (but that's nothing new).

Here's the stop error I get when it reboots:
Event Type: Information
Event Source: Save Dump
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1001
Description:
The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x0000001e (0xc0000005, 0xa00fb0f8, 0x00000000, 0x00000048). Microsoft Windows 2000 [v15.2195]. A dump was saved in: E:\WINNT\Minidump\Mini113006-01.dmp.

I've also been getting these:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Service Control Manager
Event Category: None
Event ID: 7026
Description:
The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:
vsdatant

Microsoft has this to say (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=195857):
SYMPTOMS
While shutting down an application the system may stop with a STOP 0x0000001E or STOP 0x00000024 error message. In the case of the STOP 0x0000001E the first parameter will always be C0000005.
CAUSE
This problem occurs when an application opens a lot of handles but never closes them. This has been seen when an application continually opens a registry key but never closes it. When the application is closed the system attempts to close all of the keys but runs out of system resources while doing it.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, the application has to be modified to close the registry key when it is done with it.

Well, gosh, that's helpful, ain't it.

This has become such a hassle that I've even ordered two full versions of registry cleaners. I returned the first one when it didn't help. I may still return the second.

Halp? Please?
