It's my birthday, and I'll post if I want to!

Been tremendously busy with work... my boss and I had a speaking engagement this past weekend (a CE course for pharmacy owners), and we've been preparing like mad.

It was here: http://www.sandestin.com

...which is wow.

It was the first time I've ever truly presented, and I was pleased with how I did. I'd have been happier if my boss had kept to his script/outline for his part-- I had to condense a lot of my stuff to keep it within the three-hour time limit-- but overall, I think it went really well.

Now, I get to work like mad on the follow-up! :P

I stayed with friends (Tiki and Charlene) before heading to Sandestin... and my, do they ever have an awesome place! Dual connected octagon houses right on the water in Okaloosa. They made me gumbo and we drank wine and had a great time.

I'm so very blessed, really.

Sometime during the weekend, we stopped by this outlet for a couple of hours.

...which is also wow.

I'm so sick of how I look. I'm 30-40 pounds overweight, and I dress in crap because I don't want to invest in "fat clothes." However, it's hard for me to feel good about myself if I'm always dressed like a bum. So I bought some casual skirts and tops at Geoffrey Beene, all of which mix and match. For under $200, I got four skirts and five or six shirts, and a pair of lime green sandals at Bass. I think I got at least a dozen outfits out of the deal. Because I got skirts instead of pants, I should be able to wear them for awhile as I lose weight. So, yay!

None of them (save one) are colours I would normally have purchased. And I never wear skirts. Or sandals, for that matter. Of all the items I got, only one t-shirt is something I would normally buy as "my" style.

We interrupt this post for Ldy's Free Will Astrology horoscope for the week:
It's Makeover Season, Gemini. This would be a perfect astrologicalmoment to get your whole body tattooed, start wearing wigs of varyingcolor and length, and have a cosmetic surgeon reshape your face toresemble that of your favorite celebrity. JUST KIDDING! I wasexaggerating. The omens do suggest it's a good time to experiment withyour physical appearance and make adjustments in your persona, but notas drastically as I first suggested.

Hee!

I'm going to audition for a play at our local community theatre next month. It's called The Sugar Bean Sisters, and it's an absolute riot. I'm too young for any of the roles, and I'll actually be away during the formal auditions, but I'm going to do it anyway. I totally have these characters in my heart, and oooh, buddy-- I've just gotta let 'em out!

Seriously, I'm all over this. I may not get it, but I'm definitely going for it. The director is already willing to give me a private audition. Yay!

All the schools in our county are closed today because of tropical storm Alberto. Boy's still sleeping, heh.

It's raining a little, but forecasts suggest that it won't turn into a hurricane at this point, so that's good.

I'm working today... I'd planned to take a few hours off to get a manicure and pedicure* for my birfday, but Paul told me not to. I wonder what he got me? Hee. Could be a ruse, though; we'll see.

Later tonight, we'll have our traditional birthday dinner at Beefo's. I'm hoping for an ice cream cake... however, I'm always hoping for an ice cream cake. I'll be happy with whatever :)

Well, I'm going to take a quick shower, don my birthday suit some of my new stuff and get back to work.

Hope you're having a beautiful day!

~Hugs to those who need 'em, those who want 'em, and those who believe in birthday spankings~

* I've had, in my lifetime, exactly one professional manicure and zero professional pedicures.
** I'm six again, of course!
