Looking ahead, forward thinking

I'm reasonably certain, had I been born ten years later than I was, I'd have been diagnosed as having had ADD.

50 (or so) Great Things About Having ADD! (thanks, aaangyl!)

Short attention span radio

Anywho, on a loosely-related topic, I think I've fallen in love with radioparadise.com,* an internet radio station.

They're advertised as an "eclectic, intelligent rock" station. However, they surpass rock and wind up playing some really eclectic stuff.

Like what? Things like jamie janover's (warning: sound) outer cape (jamie is a hammered dulcimer virtuoso); fats waller's who could ask for anything more?; pops staple's peace to the neighborhood; israel vibration's rudeboy shufflin'; vusi mahlasela's melodie ya mamelodie; and delerium's silence (featuring sarah mclachlan).

They do play the occasional rock song. But even those are rarely-played-on-radio gems:

pink floyd's fearless (off 1971's meddle album-- one of my top ten albums of all time); elton john's funeral for a friend (love lies bleeding), possibly my favouritest elton john song ever (from goodbye yellow brick road, another one of my top ten albums); nick lowe's what's so funny 'bout peace, love and understanding? (which I find even more poingnant that elvis costello's version); the coral's dreaming of you (very cool website navigation!); jethro tull's nothing is easy (off stand up, yet another one of my top ten albums!); and the white stripes' apple blossom.

And they recently played my favouritest stevie ray vaughan (warning: sound) song ever, riviera paradise, which few "real" radio stations ever play, due to its length.

Will this stop me from flicking between worldbeat, trance, techno, classic rock, classical, 80s rock, middle eastern, and whatever-I-happen-to-be-in-the-mood-for?

Heck no. But it does increase the likelihood that I won't be changing the station every ten minutes :)

*swoon* I love music.

Hm. The BBC apparently recognizes this trait in me!

So, yeah, I'm just haging around, doing housework, listening to music.

One banana, two banana, three banana, four

Yesterday, I went to a birthday-club dinner at K's house. We had stuffed salmon (Michele, the vegitarian, gets super mad points for bringing that!), pasta, veggies, and lotsa wine, and I made bananas foster. I even followed the rather theatrical recipe found here, but my dish would not flame. What a flamin' disappointment! No problem, thought I, I'll just add more alcohol!

Well, the darned thing never flamed, but everybody seemed pretty happy with it anyway :) Either that, or they were too drunk from the dark rum and banana liquour to care much!

All my life's a movie

I've been keeping up with my movie watching. Last friday, I saw scary movie, which, while crass, was actually quite a bit better than I'd hoped-- I got at least a few belly-laughs and oh-no-they-didn't's out of it.

Tonight, I watch galaxy quest. Very much looking forward to this one; I've seen nearly every episode of the original star trek and ST:TNG, but never really achieved fangirl status, yet get a real kick out of seeing fans at cons and stuff. Seems right up my alley!

Later this week, I'll watch Scotland PA. I've made a mental note to try to appreciate it for what it is, and not compare it too strongly to Macbeth (apologies if you happen to be reading this out loud in a theatre) ;)

Somewhere along the way next week, I need to see the newest Harry Potter. REALLY looking forward to that :)

Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow

Tomorrow, I take off early from work and take Maxman to the vet; he's had a problem with his chin, and I can't determine whether it's a fight-induced trauma or some type of dermatitis. After that, I head to rehearsal. I haven't had any improv fun since our show last month, so I'm looking forward to that :)

Then, next weekend, Paul and Zack come up for the week! You know I'm looking forward to that.

Gonna be cleaning and prepping stuff the rest of my evenings.

And that, said ldy, is that.

Hope your weekend is going well :) Hugs to allahyouse!

* for whatever reason, I can't access radioparadise's website! I can ping it just fine, and tracert shows no problems, but the site itself is inaccesible to me. I even tried changing my DNS, and accessing it through Anyone else having this problem?
** I don't know why I've been capitalization-challenged this entry; I really don't. But I am very pleased with how the subject headings seem to follow each other nicely :)
