Today is an important day. Please take a moment to observe it with me. Let us bow our heads in supplication.

Leader: When I was a little bitty boy
My grandma bought me a cute little toy

Response: Two silver bells on a string
She told me it was my Ding-a-Ling-a-Ling

All [chorus]:
My Ding-a-Ling, my Ding-a-Ling, I want to play with my Ding-a-Ling
My Ding-a-Ling, my Ding-a-Ling, won't you play with my Ding-a-Ling

Leader: When I was little boy in Grammar school
Always went by the very best rule

Response: But everytime the bell would ring
You'd catch me playing with my Ding-a-Ling

[All repeat the chorus]

Leader: Once while climbing the garden wall,
Slipped and fell; had a very bad fall

Response: I fell so hard I heard birds sing,
But I held on to my Ding-a-Ling

[All repeat the chorus]

Leader: Once, while swimming 'cross turtle creek
Man, them snappers right at my feet

Response: Sure was hard swimming 'cross that thing
with both hands holding my Ding-a-Ling

[All repeat the chorus]

Leader: Now this here song it ain't so bad
Prettiest little song that you ever had

Response: And those of you who will not sing
must be playing with your own Ding-a-Ling

G-d bless Chuck Berry; Amen.

(Sidenote: Chuck Berry may or may not have written this song; Dave Bartholomew wrote/performed something very similar in 1952, as did The Bees in 1954. Regardless, it was Mr. Berry's _only_ hit to make #1 on Billboard.)

Yes, today is National Ding-a-Ling Day.*

Celebrate it as you see fit.

* Today is also National Ambrosia Day, Pointsettia Day, and the Day Pennsylvania became the 2nd State (Ratification Day); as well as Frank Sinatra's, Edvard Munch's , Ed Koch's, Edward G. Robinson's, Bob Barker's, Gustave Flaubert's, Erasmus Darwin's, Cathy Rigby's, Connie Francis', Grover Washington's, Sheila E.'s and Dionne Warwick's birthday(s).

I'm sure it's other holidays and other people's birthday (birthdays? it's late) as well, but I'm running out of time and space.

Good night :)

...and for heavens sake-- stop playing with that thing already.

I'm feeling all kinds of: dung-a-lung

10 tall tales or Tell me a story

I reverently believe that the Maker who made us all makes everything in New England but the weather. I don't know who makes that, but I think it must be raw apprentices in the weather-clerk's factory who experiment and learn how, in New England, for board and clothes, and then are promoted to make weather for countries that require a good article, and will take their custom elsewhere if they don't get it.

--Mark Twain
from a speech delivered at the New England Society's Seventy-First Annual Dinner, New York City, Dec. 22, 1876.

Crazy weather day... no doubt. Was so warm and calm this morning, I felt stupid and out-of-place for wearing a coat. Just hours later, the temp plummetted, and we were in the middle of a blizzard. Ah, vindicated in my choice of outerwear! (Of course, by that point, I was already stuck in an office for the day, so, meh.)

I should really expect this type of behaviour from the weather up here by now, I suppose. I mean, we've known each-other for over ten years. Still, jftr: when it comes to surprises, I prefer a nice cake to gale force winds.

In other news, I was terribly disappointed with Blockbuster regarding Dino Crisis1-- I couldn't even get the blasted start-up screen to show!

So I bring it back to Blockbuster, all cranky and frowning and Eville-Ice-Queen-Customer-from-Hell-looking. "Uhm, wouldjaliketaexchangethis?" "NO. YOU HAVE NOTHING ELSE I WANT. I WOULD PREFER MY CASH PLEASE."

They must not see too many five-year-old Eville-Ice-Queen-Customers-from-Hell politely demanding their money back, because they gave me my cash without much problem. This made me feel a bit better, so I signed up for a membership card, and watched DBZ with the manager for a little while :P

I couldn't find any anime I wanted to see (read: couldn't remember what it was that dorm told me to rent, and since the anime was mixed in with everything else, it wouldn't have been like seeking a needle in a haystack), so I checked out their games.

Didn't find much in worth playing, but saw Dino Crisis 2 in their "sale" section. It was dated the day I bought the original. I bought it. Can you say "five-minute-memory?" I knew thatcha could!

Also bought pizza dough :) It was a buck-fitty instead of the aforementioned buck :/ Still a bargain for this wonderful stuff :D Now I can make broccoli/portobella pizza bread to dine on while I curse at my new game ;)

Yesterday it was hyphens, today it seems to be emoticons :P It means it's time to go. :?2

I hope you're having a lovely day :)3

1 No, not that Dino.

2 I don't know what :? means, but it seemed appropriate.

3 You did play with your Ding-a-Ling, didn't you?
