Home, home on the FREAKIN' FURNACE!

So M calls me at work about something or other... then calls me again an hour or so later-- she'd forgotten to tell me that there's a problem with the heat. There are nice blue flames beneath the furnace, but the house, and the radiators, are cold. I told her to turn down the thermostat while I checked my options.

So I called xso. Not home. Tried Ken. Not home. I know another guy in heating, but didn't have his number on me. Fork.

So I call the home warrantee company. It has this nifty automated phone system that uses voice recognition software to create service requests.

After answering a zillion questions and waiting, I got to this little part:

What is the appliance you're having a problem with?
Furnace
What is the make of your appliance?
I'm not sure.

YES, FINE, YOU WIN-- IT'S A GODDAMNED RANGE

Once I had agreed that the furnace was, indeed, a range, it took me through the rest of the process. Eventually I got back to the main menu, and got a real live salesperson. He connected me to a real live serviceperson, who told me to expect a call back soon. I'm guessing it's a problem with the circulating pump or the water level (although the level in the sightgauge looked fine, I'd not be surprised if it were clogged). In any case, even if they couldn't get someone out tonight (which they should), I can always sleep near the fire. However, I'm very concerned about the situation, and it's freaking me out a little.

And I'll be stuck at work for a while yet anyway. *sigh*
